great soccer doesn't require giving up everything else

Eclipse Development is our Summer and Fall training program for players U9–U17. It runs on one belief: that serious coaching and a manageable schedule are not mutually exclusive.

You get the same staff, the same philosophy, and the same standard of training as our competitive program. What you don't get is a ten-month commitment, weekend tournaments, or a schedule that takes over your calendar.

who it's for

The multi-sport kid. Three sports, four if you count the summer one. Needs weekends free because games are everywhere else. Wants real soccer training anyway.

The middle schooler balancing school sports. Cross country in the fall, basketball in the winter, track in the spring — and soccer is the one that matters most. Eclipse Development keeps the touch and the friendships without forcing a choice.

The high schooler navigating freshman year. New school, new schedule, new sport on the table. Football in the fall, water polo, tennis, cross country — the conflicts get real once high school starts. Eclipse Development keeps soccer in the rotation without forcing a choice between the sport your player loves and the ones they want to try.

The summer traveler. One month in Tahoe. Three weeks visiting grandparents. A family trip in July. Soccer that punishes you for traveling isn't the right soccer. Eclipse Development doesn't track attendance and is waiting when you're back.

The family that's done with the attendance spreadsheet. No more negotiating which practice to skip for the orthodontist, the recital, the birthday party. Show up when you can, miss what you need to miss — there are no games to lose and no starting spots on the line.

The player stepping back from competitive. Maybe this year is heavier academically. Maybe a sibling is in a big travel year. Maybe your player wants to try a new sport this year without giving up soccer entirely. Maybe the family just needs a lighter calendar. Taking a year off the competitive track doesn't mean walking away from the club.

The player coming back after a break. Stopped a year or two ago, misses the game, not sure about jumping into a tryout cold. Eclipse Development is a legitimate way back in — real coaching, no pressure, and plenty of time to get your feet under you again.

Every single one of those is the right reason to be here.

what it looks like

U9–U12: one practice, one scrimmage per week. The practice is technical — ball mastery, 1v1 confidence, small-sided competitive play. The scrimmage is the difference-maker: Eclipse Development players play alongside our competitive players as one mixed group. Same field, same standards. You don't get this anywhere else in the area.

U13+: two practices per week. Grouped by age, focused on technical development and small-sided play that keeps older players sharp through the season.

Every session is led by the program's lead head coach, with rotating head and staff coaches contributing throughout the year. Players get a little of everyone — the full bench of Eclipse coaching, not a single voice.

No NorCal league games. No tournaments. Weekends are yours.

Practice shirts required. Full club uniforms are not. Eclipse Development players are welcome to add Eclipse clinics and Eclipse+ sessions — you're part of the Eclipse family and the door is open.

a path, not a pipeline

Many of our current competitive players trained here first. When they were ready for a roster spot, they went through standard tryouts and earned one. Eclipse Development is a legitimate path toward competitive if that's where a player is headed.

It's also a legitimate destination. Some players train here for years and never want anything different. That's a kid who played soccer, got better at it, and kept loving it. We'll take that every time.
