New Age-Based System Starting Spring 2026

Why Did This Change?

Eclipse is following the guidance of US Club Soccer, US Youth Soccer, and NorCal Premier, which have returned to an age group formation based on August 1 - July 31(rather than birth year). This nationwide change better aligns with player development stages.

What this means: Your child's age group is now determined by their age during the August 1 - July 31 date range, not just their birth year.

⚠ Key Impacts for Eclipse Families:

  • All current club players will practice with their NEW age group starting Spring 2026, not with their current 2025-26 teams
  • Future Eclipse players born January 1, 2018 - July 31, 2018 will move up to U9 competitive-age training
  • All players must participate in their new age groups. Requests to remain in previous age groups will not be accommodated.
  • Use the charts below to find your child's correct age group for 2026-27

U5 August 1, 2021 - July 31, 2022
U6 August 1, 2020 - July 31, 2021
U7 August 1, 2019 - July 31, 2020
U8 August 1, 2018 - July 31, 2019

Competitive Age (U9-U19)

U9 August 1, 2017 - July 31, 2018
U10 August 1, 2016 - July 31, 2017
U11 August 1, 2015 - July 31, 2016
